Yes, on applicable films. Light swirls and scratches in the film’s surface disappear with heat. CARPRO’s Immortal range, for example, is designed to self-heal at temperatures as low as 0°C.
They do different jobs. PPF physically absorbs stone chips and scratches, while a ceramic coating adds gloss and makes the car easier to clean. Many owners combine them, with PPF on the high-impact areas and a Fireball ceramic coating over the top.
